... Christmas! Where has the past month (or year!), gone?
I have managed to get a couple of rides in lately. One got cut short when Ella woke up early, so I had to quickly ride back to the car and drive home (took about 30 minutes!). My second ride was on Sunday evening. It was nice to get out in the coolness of the evening, with plenty of light still around. I took my night light, but didn't really need it.

Sisters!
A long time ago (well, about 4 months ago) I bought a new bike - a Haro Mary SS. It is my only bike at the moment, which is a big change. I used to have a road bike, cross country mountain bike, and a downhill mountain bike. I think I owned maximum of 4 bikes at one stage. Now, I have one. It has no gears. Nice and simple, huh?

New Zealand Cyclocross Champs 2008
The inaugural (Unofficial) New Zealand Cyclocross Champs was held in Hamilton at the Pukete MTB Park last weekend. After weeks of wet weather forcing us inside each weekend, we finally had some fine(ish) weather for a race format that usually runs regardless of the weather or track conditions. Luckily Pukete MTB Park was still plenty soggy.

The long and winding road
Well, what a busy time we’ve been having lately. The last month has been a muddle of illness, bad weather, more illness, and juggling two young children. Two kids really is twice the work. It has felt like a long and winding road at times… with the days dragging by and at other times I’m not sure where the time has gone each week.

Another worthy cause
Here's another online petition to get behind: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/NZCycleSafety/?e
This is taken from the Cycling Advocates' Network website:
"For many Kiwis the distressing deaths of two cyclists in the Wellington region on Thursday 19 June have highlighted the need for New Zealand's roads to be made safer for people already cycling or wanting to take it up.

Busy bees
We have been busy bees in the last month. Andrew and I have both been busy at work, and we seem to have managed to fit in a few other things around that too. Like riding my bike...

Midsummer meltdown
Wow, hasn’t it been hot?! Apparently this is the hottest summer in NZ for the last 15 years. It must be the driest too, with the Waikato being declared a drought zone. Not good if you’re a farmer. Not so bad for us townies though. But us pregnant townies do feel the heat a bit more! Baby No.2 is at 20 weeks gestation now – we are going for another scan on Wednesday. I’m feeling fine, just experiencing the usual aches and pains in my pelvis/gluts/hamstrings.
