Well, what a busy time we’ve been having lately. The last month has been a muddle of illness, bad weather, more illness, and juggling two young children. Two kids really is twice the work. It has felt like a long and winding road at times… with the days dragging by and at other times I’m not sure where the time has gone each week.
I took a short break one Sunday afternoon and went for a ride at Pukete. It was an awesome day to be out on my bike. I really enjoyed it – even though I suffered through lack of fitness. The new bike went really well. The bigger wheels have much more traction, and can run lower pressures. That helps for climbing some of the steeper parts and smoothing out the bumps. After a couple of “oh no” moments heading into some corners, I think the brakes are lacking a bit of power and might be a worthwhile upgrade. Time will tell.
I was going to enter a bike race next weekend, but I think I've talked myself out of it. It's so much effort to get the family organised to go to the event (and to work Ella's feeds in around it), that I won't have much energy left to enjoy the pain and suffering during the actual race! I figure I'm better off to take a relaxed approach and sneak off for an hour while Ella sleeps and I can enjoy myself properly.
I’ve managed to fit in a few walks lately, usually an hour long. It’s not enough to be feeling the benefit yet, it just makes me tired!
