I'm a finalist!

I got some pretty exciting news this morning. I'm a finalist in a competition to win a bike. Not just any bike mind you... the bike I designed around a Cotic Roadrat frame. Thanks to the generosity of Vorb, Essence Bicycle, and Cotic, I have a 12.5% chance (1 in 8) of winning my dream Cotic.

Double digits

I didn't manage to get much riding in over the last month. I did the last of the winter series races at Pukete, huffing and puffing my way around 3 laps of the track in a bit under and hour. Then the following weekend (last weekend) I was lucky enough to get across to Rotorua for the day.

Down, but not out.

I'm dealing with a few injuries at the moment. I woke up one morning with a stiff ankle. The next day it was a sore ankle and for the following few days it spread to being a sore lower leg, aching at night. No idea what caused that - I'm basically in hybernation at the moment. I'd feel better if I'd crashed my bike and had a few scrapes and bruises to show for the soreness, but no such luck.

Time Flies By

Wow! Time has really been flying by. Oliver was 7 months old on Sunday.

I managed to get out to Pukete for race 3 of the winter series. Again, it was cold and windy. The ground was really wet and slushy too, so they shortened the course and left out the section through the park. I was relieved that I wouldn't have to battle the wind again.

A milestone!

Things have been fairly quiet around here with life focussed on Oliver reaching his 6 month milestone.

I did another mountain bike race at Pukete a couple of weekends ago. It was race 2 in the series. I was a couple of minutes slower this time, mostly because I had only done a couple of windtrainer sessions since race 1 but also because the wind was blowing a gale (and cold!) out in the park. I will remember to wear my arm and leg warmers next time, and try to do a better warm up.

Pukete Racing

This weekend I finally got to ride my new bike! The first race of the Hamilton Mountain Bike Club winter race series was held at the Pukete Mountain Bike Track on Sunday. It was only my second race (and third ride) since Oliver was born.

Vegas, baby!

That's right, we've had our first family trip to vegas... Rotovegas at least (aka Rotorua). We went over on Saturday to meet up with a few friends of mine riding in the 24hrs of N-Duro, and complete a couple of bike-bits business transactions. I figured I may as well do a ride between Oliver's feeds, so I chucked my bike on the back of the car.
